Great Outdoors

Our spring break week took us to beautiful southeast Kansas. The weather was supposed to be great, so we thought camping would be perfect. Of course the first day rained and rained. But no worries, because Whit's parents live close to our campsite. We were long overdue to spend time with these special people anyway. Geis family of 5 (Copper too) lodged at the Brant Farm. Of course the kids were so excited about playing with their favorite friends!
The morning after, us ladies ventured out to the sheep farm and my city girl was ready to dig her feet in! First, feeding the baby lambs....ahhhh.
These two peas in a pod couldn't get enough of each other. They were loving the mud puddles too. (When Kyndal wasn't holding her pant legs up!!)

I don't think kids could ever get bored on the farm. Swings made out of tires? For real?

The second day brought gorgeous, and I mean perfect, camping weather. The Bensons joined us briefly and the boys got their first bee-bee gun lesson.

Don't know that this mama was ready for this milestone. :(

Mmmmm, such a cute fam.

Love this girl. Can't believe I've known her 11 years. Feels like forever.

After Bensons left, we went on the four wheeler ride of the trip. We rode forever, through the cows, through the river, to to ponds, through the brush. And our little Copper (who has a bad elbow) ran and followed us the whole way!

Codey, Copper and I fished while Kyndal and Troy set up the turkey feeders.

Little girl on a big toy!

Even after hours of driving around, Copper still wanted to chase the boys and fish too.

She swam across the pond to K and me with a stick. Nope, she doesn't have reindeer antlers on!

Copper, as we hoped, was a true outdoor trooper. We were so proud of her. Think she slept for days post-trip!

Evening brought a cool breeze, great tunes, a cloudless sky and a perfect campfire with our family.

Solo practice. Yikes.

The highlight might have been the morning. We woke to Copper barking at the cows (not seen here but previously at the fence) that were waiting to be fed. Codey crawled out of the tent, put his boots on, marched over to the fence, hopped it and yelled at the 20 HUGE cows to go away with Copper as his shadow. Hilarious...and a bit frightening too. This is the return after a successful mission.
Happy Spring everyone!
