Like Father, Like Son

Father's early morning habits: sleep as late as possible, relax and watch the news, get moving to work when necessary.
Son's early morning habits: sleep until mom wakes him, relax and watch cartoons in his pjs while slowing munching on breakfast, will dress ONLY when mom makes him to get out the door
Father's routine will drastically change to an early and anxious awakening when, and ONLY when: he has an early tee time, a hunting excursion, or leaving on vacation...and he has a giddy skip to his step.
All last week Codey was counting down the days for us until our Lake of the Ozarks departure for Thursday. Only 4 days, only 3 days, etc. Although I clearly explained to him that we wouldn't be leaving until after Dad got home from work, this is how his morning went:
Woke about an hour earlier than usual and got dressed himself before leaving his room (first ever recorded.) Downstairs as I was eating my breakfast in peace, I hear, "thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump" as he is dragging his suitcase down the steps complete with his camo hat and a huge grin on his face. You would have thought it was Christmas morning. As you can see below, he HAD to eat with his suitcase sharing his chair.
My boys sure love their adventures!
